I am so so so excited to announce a new program I am launching with my long-time supporters and pals at Big Paw Designs. Big Paw Designs has been supporting Romeothecat.com since the beginning and has as much passion for rescue as I do.

Wednesday Wake up Tactic

Well, hellooooo there! GET UP.

Each morning, I determine my wake up strategies based on the staff’s sleeping position. Today, female staff was scoogied down off the pillow (yes, am pretty sure “scoogied” is a word. If not, it should be) so I had to plan accordingly.

Stood on pillow and put face in her face – but from the top of her head, so I was upside down.

Meowed and meowed and meowed and meowed and meowed. When she opened her eyes and saw upside-down-Romeo she was laughing very hard. And BREAKFAST was served!

Wednesday (Wet) Wake up Tactic

ARGH! Today bedside table was so cluttered with junk that I could barely jump up on it! Tissues, notebooks, Tylenol. So annoying.

What’s most annoying is that because there was no room I accidentally knocked over bottle of water and someone (Clearly not me. Hello, I have PAWS?) had not bothered to screw on the lid tight enough. The bottle fell and splashed on female staff member. WOW did this wake her up quickly!

I would add this to my arsenal but am pretty sure the lid will never be loose on the water bottle again. My staff really is smarter than they look.

Oh, PUH-LEASE. Like it was my fault?

Wednesday Wake up Tactic – Oh, Baby (Monitor)

Today used old standby and knocked the baby monitor off the bedside table. I can’t help it. The dangly cord and monitor lights are irresistible.

Despite popular belief among my staff, knocking the baby monitor off the table has nothing to do with my feelings about who is on the other side of the baby monitor.

Dangly, tangly cords. LOVE them.

You guys continue to amaze me with stories of how you’re celebrating National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, which is sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States.

As you all know, I’ve teamed up with Big Paw Designs and Peoplepets.com to encourage everyone to find ways to celebrate our local rescues and shelters and to let them know how much we love and appreciate all they do! So do anything you can – no matter how big or small – to show them you care.

Hmmm...feels cozy.

Jessi Sensabaugh of Lynchburg, VA is hand-knitting soft comfy pet beds for A Place to Bark in Portland, TN. Jessi, who is cat staff to Kitty and Tripsie, says she is going to send along food and other supplies as well.

What a wonderful way to give! I am sure those sweet animals will appreciate cozy little hand knit beds and they are sure to be very popular nap spots! Pugsley and I would definitely fight over who would get the knitted bed!

This morning, female staff allowed her hand to stick out from under covers, unprotected. I saw my chance to try something completely new. Completely daring. Completely outrageous! Rubbed face all over her index finger (while purring/snorting). Then, gave her finger a little (bitty) nibble. He he! It worked!

Super Excited to Share

I am so happy to announce a fun (and worthwhile!) event that my friends at Big Paw Designs and I have cooked up.

Next week, November 1-7, is National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week. Big Paw Designs, Pugsley and I are asking all of YOU to show your local shelter or rescue how much you appreciate them by donating your time, money, support or goods. It can be as simple as donating a bag of dog food, taking them your extra old towels or playing with kittens for an hour. The point is to do something. Many of you do things on a regular basis anyway so tell us about what you do to support them and that certainly counts too.

We all know the wonderful people who work and volunteer at shelters work their tails off day in and day out. We often take them for granted so let’s show them our appreciation!

Our challenge to you is to go do something between now and November 7th and then email us about it. We’ll feature all of your good deeds every day here and on the Big Paw Designs blog and maybe some other places as well (we’ll let you know where; could be exciting!)

And, in addition to featuring you, all submissions will be entered into a drawing for your choice of a Rescue Mom or Rescue Dad car magnet or sticker, courtesy of Big Paw Designs. We’ll choose a new winner every day!

Imagine what we can all do if we each do a little bit. We are so excited to feature all of your wonderful activities. My friend Bailey the Bichon did something similar for her birthday last year – her requested gift was that everyone do something nice for their local shelters. It was a great birthday hit. And very worthwhile.

Wednesday Wake Up Tactic – Ruckus!

Made huge ruckus (Could you describe the ruckus, sir? Quick, name the movie!) with cords and
such – batting, playing and knocking the phone off the table in the corner of the room. I personally did not think it was that loud but the female staff member did. I must have done a good wake up job because she was awake enough to try to bust me with these clandestine photos.

No bedroom light on. I think she thought she'd catch me doing something REALLY bad.

See? Totally innocent. (For now)
