Pretty, pretty Ping
Well, let me just tell you there is a certain team of cats up in Wisconsin who are VERY skilled at this wake up thing. You’ve heard from
Bob and you’ve heard from
Hermi. Today, we’re getting the perspective of Ping.
She writes:
‘Hello Romeo,
I’m Ping (short for Ping Pong), the third kitty. You’ve met Bob and Hermi and seen a rather unflattering photo of me, so I thought I

Woah! Hermi!
should introduce myself and contribute a wake up tactic. First off, I’m the regular cat of the household. I’m not huge and friendly, like Bob (who is my brother – same litter definitely different fathers) and I’m not rangy and elegant with super powers like Hermi. I’m just me – a cute little girl kitty.
I don’t really like people except for my staff and I’m sorry but I would not do well meeting you in-person. That being said, I can be friendly from a distance and I really do enjoy your valuable advice. My only regret is that I have a squeaky little voice that just doesn’t work with your Meow Morning suggestions. (That would be Hermi, Miss “I can say ‘feed me’ in 13 different languages.”)

Bob and Ping, hangin' out
As far as wake up tactics go, I have a favorite that seems to work reasonably well. First, you crouch on the highest part of the blankets (that’s where they’re usually the thinnest). Try to stay out of arm’s reach. For me it is either the hip area or the thigh (be careful with the male staff as they sometimes flinch and you have to run away quick). Put all four feet as close together as possible and then wobble. Wobble left and dig in your claws just a touch. Then wobble right and dig. Stand up, Turn in a circle with claws slightly extended so that they poke just a little but don’t scratch. Settle back down with all your feet close together and continue wobbling. The wobbly pricking seems to get the staff moving about and then one of them ends up getting up to use the necessary. That usually completes the wake up process and very soon BREAKFAST is served.
Of course I don’t really need to eat BREAKFAST. Mostly I just look at it and walk away but it is the principle of prompt service that keeps me inspired to spur (as it were) my staff to excellence.
Best Regards,
Ping
PS. The pictures are: Bob and me a few years ago, Hermi when she gets her super powers on (tee hee), and me in one of my stealth look-out spots. Have a great day and thanks for all you do to help animal rescue.”
Awww….Ping! We are so glad to hear from you. Your tactic is very impressive too! And I agree…well kinda. I am certainly hungry for BREAKFAST in the morning but it is definitely important to keep the staff sharp.
