Romeo the Cat on Letting go of Fear

September 24, 2012

What are you afraid of? Have you ever really examined your various fears? Some are obviously valid. But what about the things that scare you but you don’t know why? Have you ever considered that they might be the key to something AWESOME?

I steer clear of the Big-Running-Yelling-iPad-Watching-Popsicle-Eating Creature most of the time. I’m just not quite sure what she’s going to do. I steer clear of the Little-Toddling-Yelling-Grabbing-Milk-Drinking Creature ALL the time because I know what she’s going to do – grab my tail!

But Pugsley seems to have no fear of these guys. He is so brave. Sure, he gets cornered once in a while by the Little Creature but he just looks at her, sneezes and then squeezes around her. And the Big Creature? Pug loves her. He can’t get enough of her. He hangs out with her, plays in her room and even sleeps in her bed! I’ve been too scared to try any of this…until this weekend.

Saturday morning, I cautiously joined Pug in the Big Creature’s room. He was on her bed and she was “reading” to him. I hopped up to see what the bed felt like and boy, was it nice.

I sat down, expecting the Big Creature to….I don’t know what. But all she did was pet me softly and say, “Hi Womeo!”

And let me tell ya, that bed is comfortable. So Pug and I spent the better part of the weekend, lounging on the Big Creature’s bed. Even when she was there!

What was I so afraid of? Jeesh.

What are you afraid of? Why not give it a shot this week….?

I am afraid of the vacuum cleaner. I’m not sure when this thing is alive or not and it makes a lot of noise and, you know what? It feeds of hair!!

I am afraid of the vet! That clinic is WAY scarier than a human kitten ever could be!

That is so sweet. The biggest thing we are afraid of is the vacuum cleaner and we’re not so sure we’ll ever get over that.
