I love when communities launch full-scale efforts to support and cheer on their local shelters!
The ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K challenge enlists 50 competing animal shelters to spend the next three months busting their butts to increase adoption numbers. The winning shelter wins $100K grant from ASPCA and Rachael Ray. That’s a lot of scratch, yo.
Now, listen: I know these guys bust their butts all year round. But having a competition like this helps motivate communities to rally around their favorite shelters and help them increase adoptions. I wish this happened all the time but we’ll take it in spurts if we must!
The runners up also have a chance at some $500K in prizes and goodies.
This weekend, competing shelters are holding kick off events in the hopes of jump starting their campaign.
What can you do to help? Visit the ASPCA site to see if your local organization is in the competition. Then, spread the word to your community to help your local shelter increase adoptions.
And, I have some goodies for one lucky reader, courtesy of ASPCA. You’ll get a tote, t-shirt, umbrella, wrist band, key chain and magnet. How do you win? Just check out the link above to see if your local org is competing. Leave a comment below telling me who your local organization is OR who the closest one is to you. For example, we don’t have any near me but there are a few about an hour away. That counts! I’ll do a random drawing on Tuesday, August 7 at Noon EST.
Have a great weekend everybody!
