Romeo the Cat….on Caring What Others Think

July 30, 2012

grumpy cat

Does I look like someone who cares what people think of me?

It seems to me that lots of humans get caught up in worrying about what others think of them.

About the direction they take their business.
About what they feed their pets.
About how they discipline their kids.
About who they choose to spend time with.
About what they post on their Facebook page.
About what kind of work they do.
About what kind of crazy dreams they have.
About what happens if they fail if they pursue their crazy dreams.
About what happens if they succeed if they pursue their crazy dreams.

I can tell you with complete certainty: STOP WORRYING ABOUT WHAT OTHERS THINK.

Follow your hearts, friends.

Do you think Pug and I worry what people think of us? Certainly not. We go where we want, when we want. If the staff calls for me and I don’t feel like coming, I don’t. I don’t worry what she’s going to think of me if I stay on my comfortable pillow instead of jumping up when she calls for me. (Love ya, babe, but I gotta be me!)

Do you think I’m afraid I look silly when the zoomies strike and I go racing all over the house, up and down the stairs and around each room? Even if it’s the middle of the night and I get yelled at. I don’t care.

Do you think I’m afraid the male staff won’t love me if I spend more time with the female staff? Nope. In fact, I think he loves me even more (plus he says he doesn’t blame me).

We cats have mastered the art of being who we are and not giving a rat’s rear end what others think of us. Here are some tips for you:

*If you have a dream…pursue it. Do you think there are people who make fun of me for being a cat who blogs? Of course there are. Do I care? Absolutely not.

*Don’t be afraid to frolic and have fun. Even if you look silly. Chances are, people are jealous that you are having fun and they aren’t.

*The only person who needs to approve of you is YOU. Are you making yourself proud and happy?

*Some people won’t ever approve of who you are or what you’re doing. You think I can convince a cat-hater to love me? Well, maybe…..but probably not. Forget them!

*Life is so, so short. I have nine lives and even I know to enjoy life and not let stupid stuff and people get in the way. You only have ONE life.

So get to it!

xo,

R

A friend of mine always said this: We wouldn’t worry so much about what other people think of us if we realized how seldom they do!

Love this post. It is so true. We have to do our own thing and not worry about what the next guy thinks as long as we are happy. Take care.
