Well, friends. Here we are – Friday the 13th. Is this a good luck day or a bad luck day for you?
Perspective is everything, people. Since I was rescued and adopted, I pretty much consider every day a good luck day! So I don’t really give a whole lot of credence to things that supposedly bring bad luck. For example…the whole thing about black cats being bad luck? Hogwash! A black cat crossing your path may mean a lot of things but rarely (if ever!) bad luck. Actually, some superstitions even say a black cat crossing your path means good luck. I wrote a post about black cat superstitions back in October.
Anyway, if a black cat crosses your path in MY house, it means:
He’s headed to his 2 p.m. sun puddle
He heard the food dishes clanking
He’s just killing time
He’s going to the kitchen to see if it’s time to eat again
He saw an invisible something to bat around
He’s looking for someone to play with him
He’s going to the kitchen to see if it’s time to eat again
He’s patrolling the perimeter
He’s headed to the boxes to take care of some business
He’s going to the window to watch the birds
He’s going to the kitchen to see if it’s time to eat again
He’s headed upstairs to take a nap on the bed
What else might he be doing?

I bet Pugs could also be looking for some clean, white laundry to lay on!
YES for sure. He is very good at that. I, however, prefer black dress pants.
I say! I have not been bad luck one single day of my 13 years!
There ya go!
Love my black cat family history. We started with Mickey, then acquired Gussy, and now I have my beautiful Sassy. She was a 12 yr old exotic long hair we adopted at our local shelter. We love her so much and she has NO bad luck whatsoever! Don’t ever give up on adopting seniors! They still have so much love to give back!
You are so right. Seniors are wonderful pets.
Penny was a black cat that lived here before us. She lived to be 27 years old. No bad luck there.
Wow! Definitely not bad luck!
I have two black Kitties and they’re certainly not bad luck! They’re the sweetest, most loving cats I’ve ever had the pleasure of adopting!
Pugsley is definitely a sweet black cat! Not as sweet as this white cat but he’s definitely sweet.
In our house, he might also be running after his sister, or chasing a ball, or playing with Da Bird. Or, Percy’s favourite: sitting on the bathroom sink and meowing until he gets scritches.
Bathroom sink perching is definitely effective.
Romeo pls send a black cat to pass my Mommy’s path today b/c she thinks it would be good luck to have that happen. Black cats are pretty.
Coming!
