Friends and staff! I am sooooo excited to celebrate National Hairball Awareness Day with you all.
This year, I’ve teamed up again with FURminator to make the day a festive occasion. The FURminator folks are some fun people, let me tell you! They provided a newly updated FURminator deShedding tool to a group of cat bloggers to test out. Then we all made silly creatures from the resulting fur. Here’s mine. Are you surprised?
You can check out the others’ fur ball creatures throughout the day on the FURminator Facebook page.
Here are some fun furry facts, courtesy of FURminator:
- The 70% of the cat population that lives exclusively indoors tends to rely on grooming to activate shedding cycles. In the summer cats groom less, causing more shedding than in winter months when they groom more often.
- A cat spends 30% of its life grooming (for SURE this is true of Pugsley!)
- Ewww. Hairballs are caused when cats ingest hair during grooming. Uh, yep.
- The good news is that grooming regularly helps remove the loose hair from cats’ fur, which reduces the hairball problems and minimizes resulting constipation issues (and nothing is worse than constipation!) FURminator tools are GREAT for reducing shedding by up to 90%.
Have a FUR tastic day, everyone!

What a cute entry, Romeo. Wish we would have thought to hide Jan’s entry behind something.
We took a quick look at the entries while we’re waiting for Jan to put breakfast out for us and there are some fun fur creatures. Many thanks to you and Furminator for letting us participate.
