Can you believe it’s Thanksgiving already? GEESH, where has the time gone? This week, to celebrate the holidays, I’ve teamed up with the lovely folks at Petside.com, for their Annual Pet Net event, where a gang of bloggers get together on one day to celebrate pets. This year’s theme is family. And I decided to write about the things we do for love.
We pets do a lot for love. We tolerate our staff members, sleep with them, cuddle with them, allow them to pet and fawn over us and many other things. But I decided to take this time to explore (and appreciate!) the things our silly but sweet humans do for us.
For example, my staff members heat up our food every morning. Yes, we have them well trained. And my female staff member is allergic to cats (hard to believe of course) yet she still lets us sleep on her pillow.
They spend a lot of money on the pet sitter to come twice a day when they leave us at home and do you know that our male staff member refuses to disturb us when Pugsley and I are taking up the whole couch? He’ll sit on the floor or another chair. Now that’s love!
I took a little survey to learn what other things some other staff members have been known to do because they love us sooooo much. Here are some of the answers I received:
“I get strictly bottled water in my fountain. And my box is immediately scooped after each use if my apes are home!” @twogreyguys
“Tiesha gets us to open the front door so he can walk through the house and out the back door, saves him going round. Grrr” @luckleygirl
“I let my dog Stanley sleep at the top of my bed. I sleep on the remaining part with my feet hanging over the bottom end!” @RosatheWitch
“Clarisse and I get our food warmed and often sprinkled with treats, or coated with crushed treats.” @magicchloe
“My staff custom mixes my food so that I will find it tasty and digestible. I don’t like it warm – they tried that. ~Bob” @GoodSpeedMiller
“I sing to my kitties!” – Melinda
“I turn on the electric blanket on my bed for them.” – Gina
“I wrap my furbabies Christmas presents & always make sure they are comfy on the couch or our bed before we get in!” – Christine
“We take pepper to see her grandparents (my parents) at least once a week, she gets so excited when I say we are going to see grandma and grandpa, she runs to the door with her tennis ball knowing we are leaving! She loves them sooo much!” – Jennifer
“I take my pup over to my parent’s house to be puppysat while I’m at work.” – Mandy
“Sleep like a pretzel so I don’t have to move them in the middle of the night and wake them. And I keep a dog cookie jar next to the bed.” – Karen
“I feed them before I feed myself.” – Kate
“When I am about to feed them I make the brreek brreek sound that I have heard mother cats make and no matter where they are they come running. And as above, that too.” – Azure
“I play mine music. My cats love music and have favorites.” – Debra
“I make sure my little penny is nearly always clothed. I know her barks to know what she wants, it is usually dog food, milk, bananas or cottage cheese (those are the things we feed her). She has steps up to the bed, and always sleeps under the covers!” – Michelle
“I always bring them something, a toy or bone, back from shopping. I sit the bags on the floor and they go through them looking for whatever they think is theirs.” – Iva
Oh my goodness! What a bunch of lucky pets out there. So tell me, what does your staff do for love?

Typo in my first response. The vowels are SO mortified. E
Our mama gave us a home inside and never makes us go outside. We have a nice tall place to watch out the window and she got us the BEST multi-tv entertainment center! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwIsEWR13ys
Mama lets me under the covers with her so I can be safe and warm – U
Mama gives me a pill every day so I will not scratch because I scratched all the fur off my ears and my fancies and even cut myself. I hate it, but she says it is because I am so important.
What a purrfectly delightful assortment of things we (humoms) do for our cats. My gang give you four high fives!
Miss Emma says: My mama always makes a human water bowl in the bathroom sink when I need a drink. She holds the water, turning her hands (i.e., the bowl) this way and that so that I have the best angle for drinking. She’s careful not to get any water on my paws, and she always talks sweet to me while I drink. Unless I want it quiet. Then she does that.
Brianne says: Mama knows I like my chicken treats and keeps them right on the counter where I can see them. When I’m ready for a treat (or two, or seven), I just ask and she opens that package right up. She even breaks the pieces up so that I can eat them more easily. I’ve had some teeth pulled, you see.
No matter how busy my staff is, they will always drop everything to attend to my needs. For instance, after a hard day at work on the ‘puter, my typist like to curl up with a good book in the evening. However, she will always set the book aside if I indicate that I want to have some fetch time or I need to blitz outside.
It’s really the least we can do though, after all, they all deserve to be spoiled!
Its the least they can do after all the work we do for them! Happy Thanksgiving
Wags,
