Did you guys know more than 50 percent of pets in the U.S. are overweight or obese? OMG I did not know this! And there are lots and lots of health issues that go along with extra pounds. I know I am obsessed with food (particularly BREAKFAST) but thank goodness I run through the house a lot or maybe I would be portly too.
Anyway, I’m joining a campaign to help raise awareness for pet obesity – the Nu Campaign to Fight Pet Obesity, sponsored by a brand new pet food company called Nulo. Okay before I go further you need to know that female staff is helping Nulo with their bloggy so there’s your full disclosure. But you guys know she wouldn’t be involved with a company that she did not believe in so there. Anyway, go visit her there once in a while and make her feel good. (Hi, Staff!)
On to more about Nulo. Nulo is a fabu company founded by Michael Landa, who runs a pet sitting company called The Pet Staff in Los Angeles. A couple of years ago, Mike recognized a trend: his clients were getting porkier and, as a result, had a host of problems, including diabetes. He set out to develop a healthy, nutritious food and a program that would help pet parents serve up great food in the right proportions. And Nulo was born. Nulo is an awesome food for pets who need to drop some pounds. But it’s not a diet food. It’s just good old healthy, nutritious food without all the junk that other foods have in them.
The Nu Campaign is designed to educate people about the dangers of pet obesity. Nine bloggers (including moi) are going to be on the program, blogging about our experiences, over the next 90 days. It should be fun!
So, Pugsley and I are now eating Nulo. Even though we’re at our perfect weights, it’s a great food for overall wellness. And….I’m not just saying this but OMG OMG OMG is it delicious! We both went nuts for this food. I was even accused of shoving Pugsley out of the way to get at his plate after mine was clean! Well, okay maybe that did happen but this stuff is GOOD. We love the dry food as much as the wet.
For the next 90 days we’ll be sharing some stories of the other bloggers whose pets are part of the Nu Campaign. You’ll recognize some of your buddies and some new friends so go on over and say hi to them too.

Judy is so excited to begin her Nulo campaign with you Romeo! Meow, woof etc
YES, definitely needs to be addressed. Do they have a vegetarian dog food?
Pheobe here from Two Fat Dogs: I find being called overweight an insult. I would say that I am more pleasingly plump or maybe “big boned.” My dad says that I must have dinosaur bones in me which is way cool don’t you think? I didn’t know us dogs descended from dinosaurs. Dad always laugh very hard when he says this to me, not sure why. I wonder if I can fly? Off to get some of that tasty Nulo chow.
