Human Angst. Friday Guest Wake up Tactic!...

Bella and Pepper, two peas in a pod.

Bella and Pepper, two peas in a pod.

Today we’re featuring the wake up tactic from the human’s point of view since the cat in question doesn’t seem to be up to emailing his own strategy.

Denise Dochnahl, slave to Pepper and Bella, writes:

“My cat is too lazy to type you an e-mail message, so I’ll share his wake-up tactic with you… every morning the alarm goes off at 6:00 a.m. At 6:00 AND 30 SECONDS, Pepper (that’s his name) starts meowing and kneading (WITH claws) on my back, leg, arm, whatever he can get to that may ensure he causes pain. If I have not gotten the hell up (his words, not mine), thrown the dog outside (his words, not mine) and filled his bowl full of scrumptious-ness (his words, not mine), then dear Pepper is forced to relocate to kneading in my hair, causing knots and tangles. This position also allows him to move closer and closer to my scalp, causing the most pain of all… which he finds very effective, because the minute he gets close to my noggin, I GET THE HELL UP and do what he says! Much to my chagrin, it works every time.”

It sounds like the woofer, Bella, is like Pugsley. They never have to do anything but they reap the benefits! Thanks, Denise, for sharing!

Cat Scratch – Thursday Wake up Tactic...

This morning I sat on the staff’s pillow, thinking about my strategy.

Before I even had a chance to devise my plan o’ attack, however, I got a really big itchy. So……

And lo and behold, this worked! She was up! And BREAKFAST was on its way.

Dang, I’m good.

Nothing like a good old scratching, no?

The Cat’s Meow – Wednesday Wake up...

I’m all about variations on the theme.

Yesterday I used the “Two-Paw-Press” and today I got close to staff member’s ear and meowed and meowed and meowed with one sneeze in the middle. Then, I put both paws on the side of staff member’s head (yesterday it was the forehead) in order to leverage my leap to the other side of the pillow. There, I continued my meowing in the other ear until the staff could no longer take it and BREAKFAST was served! Meow.

Really, now. What are you going to do about it?

Tuna Tuesday Wake up Tactic...

Hello, everybody. This morning I utilized a meow/yowl/purr noise to see what staff would do. Nada. So, I implemented the Two-Paw-Press on staff’s forehead. It worked wonders!

I’ve created a visual for you.

Monday wake up strategy...

Persistent, aggressive headbutting of all staff members.

Just a typical hectic Friday morning....

Friday Guest Strategist...

Today’s tactic comes from Marbles who insists that the best wake up strategy is to jump up on high places while staff is sleeping.

See, there’s a couple of things at work here. First, think about all of the thumping and scrambling (at least when I jump up on things; others may be more graceful) noises one makes when jumping up to hard-to-reach locations. That kind of ruckus has GOT to wake up the staff. But I personally think it’s the staring down at the staff from above and sending telepathic messages: BREAKFAST. BREAKFAST. BREAKFAST. that ultimately does the trick. What do you think?

Thursday Wake up Tactic...

Began with Meow. Meow. Meow. Then, bopped female staff member gently on nose with soft furry paw. Then, did it again. And again. And again. This method works twofold: the persistent bopping is difficult for anyone to sleep through and the furry paw tickles the staff’s nose. Wonderful combination! BREAKFAST was even served a little early today!

A powerful tool.

Wednesday wake up strategy...

That crazy tail-pulling-running-screaming Creature beat me to it this morning! She started her shenanigans around 5:45 a.m. when HECK, even I was still sleeping. Needless to say, staff not so happy about it. But I gotta hand it to that little Creature, she really knows how to get them up and going and serving BREAKFAST quickly!

For all you pet bloggers out there!...

BlogPaws-LogoHo…z-bev600-tm

I have some very exciting news! I have teamed up with some buddies from Scratchings and Sniffings to create the first ever educational and networking resource for pet bloggers, BlogPaws! Yes, that’s right! Just for us.

There are organizations for pretty much every type of blogger but nothing for pet bloggers – until now!

And, the best news is that we’re hosting the first ever pet bloggers conference, BlogPaws 2010, April 9 & 10, 2010 in Columbus, Ohio. We’re bringing everyone together for fun, networking and education. So if you’re interested in learning to monetize your blog, increase traffic, understand SEO, do product reviews, publish a book, start a blog, get inspired or just network and have fun with all your blogger friends, this is the place for you.

We’ll be announcing the speaker line up soon and we have some of our very favorite brands sponsoring the event, like Bissell, PurinaCare Pet Insurance, Wellness Pet Food and lots more we’ll be announcing later this week!

If you are interested in being a sponsor, let me know! Also if you are a small biz, we have terrific packages just for you. Finally, if you are an author or an artist, we have a special way to help you promote your work at the event! You can email me: romeo (at) romeothecat (dot) com for more details on any of the above or with any questions about the event.

We’ve arranged for great rates at the hotel hosting the event. The (pet friendly!) Westin hotel in downtown Columbus is giving us a nightly rate of $99 INCLUDING free wireless. Nice! We’ll also be connecting people for rides and room shares if that interests you. Let me know.

Finally, one big important piece of this is that we are donating a large part of our proceeds to animal rescues! We’ll select two organizations from nominations made by registrants to receive the moulah. We’re so excited to give to those who need it.

We really really hope to see you there. I guarantee this will be a blog-changing event as you will walk away from the weekend with knowledge you can put into practice right away and more bloggy friends who will support, nurture and cheer you on out in the blogosphere. But register soon. We are keeping the event relatively small (300 bloggers and brands!) so we can get a lot of nose tapping, headbutting and networking done. We’re on track to sell out so get your furry butts moving!
