I get annoyed because these celebrities often spawn a trend of the general public buying lap dogs from breeders, basically as accessories, and then realizing they don’t want them. They then toss aside these poor little guys, the dogs end up in shelters, and if they aren’t adopted out quickly, you know the rest of the story.
In fact, a friend sent me a link to an article today about how the Los Angeles shelters are so overcrowded with Chihuahuas and other “lap dogs” that a rescue recently stepped in and arranged for more than two dozen of them to be relocated to a shelter in New Hampshire where there would be more opportunity to find homes for them.
This is not a cheap undertaking. But Grey’s Anatomy star, Katherine Heigl, paid the cost to ship the sweet little woofers out to New Hampshire. What a wonderful thing to do!
The shelter in Nashua, New Hampshire is confident they’ll be able to find homes for the dogs quickly, as the breeds are much less common in that area.
This is such a great example of people working together across the country to help furry friends have good lives. I love it. Sigh.

Oh Romeo, our Mom gets really ruffled about stuff like that. She says (some) humans should really have some sense knocked into them. But thanks for addressing the subject.
It’s good there are still a lot of good people helping animals. And please tell people to NEVER buy a puppy from a store or over the internet. That’s another subject to get ruffled about.
