My good pal, Brewskie Butt’s staff manager Vicki Boatright, is a fantastic artist. To celebrate her online community and the growth of her pet portrait business, Vicki is hosting a virtual “Paw Parade” on January 3, 2010 from 2 -6 p.m. EST. The parade will feature portraits of the pets Vicki has painted throughout the year, including one of my pal Tucker. Tucker manages my staff’s BFF so my staff commissioned this painting of Tucker for his staff’s birthday. Very cool, yes?
The Paw Parade will virtually march through the Canton, OH Arts District, where Vicki lives and works. The event will be based on Twitter using hashtag #Pawparade. You don’t have to be on Twitter, though. You can also go to Vicki’s blog to view her creations.
Miss Vicki has been kind enough to use this opportunity to raise money for my January Furpower beneficiary, Last Hope Animal Rescue in Long Island, NY, and enter into a drawing for a free, custom pet portrait!
You can donate to Last Hope by clicking here.
You can enter the drawing for a free custom 16″ X 20″ single animal pet portrait by leaving a comment on Vicki’s blog, at http://bit.ly/7cB3wF, explaining why you would like your animal painted by BZTAT (that’s Vicki’s supercool artist’s handle).
No purchase or donation is necessary to enter. Winner will be drawn randomly from all entries.

If you’ve been coming here long enough, you know that this does not work with my staff. But still, I always give her a chance to make it easy on herself. That’s just how I roll.
Anyhoo, after (big surprise) no response to meowing, I turned my attention to the bedside table where I proceeded to play with her glasses, which were lodged in between the alarm clock and a stack of books. This resulted in lotsa lotsa noise and also resulted in BREAKFAST. Hooray for BREAKFAST!

Of course, Pugsley was not sneezing on purpose to wake up staff. In fact, if that goody-two-shoes knew that he was partially responsible for the wake up, he’d be horrified. Don’t tell him.

But the tape-measure-playing tactic is obviously a good strategy to add to the repertoire because staff got up and got us BREAKFAST anyway.

(Yes, I know I’ve used this one recently. But so effective, dontcha think?)

This morning started with my typical meowing and meowing and grunting and snorting at female staff member. Then, by happy accident, I suddenly had to erm, “release” a hairball right on her pillow. This was EXTREMELY effective in waking up both female and male staff members.
Pugsley thinks this was rude but dude, it wasn’t like I planned it.
We’ve always been a fan here in our household but we received a sample of the new deLuxe tool and its added features are terrific. Take, for example, the new FURejector button, which allows the staff to push a button and clean the big bunches of fur they’ve just brushed off. This is a great feature for many reasons but especially if the one being groomed is trying to get away. The staff can hold onto the potential escapee and eject the fur at the same time. Pugsley and I don’t try to get away when we’re being FURminated, though. In fact, Pugs who HATES being groomed, purrs and lays down when he’s getting his treatment. That’s quite a testament.
There’s a new ergonomic handle which the staff says is very nice and easy to grip.Like the original FURminator tools, the deLuxe Collection comes in several sizes and for cats and dogs.
Two paws up. Nice work, FURminator peeps!
