Today is a very important day! It’s my “Gotcha” Day! The day I was adopted by my staff (or rather, I adopted them).
Four years ago today, November 30, 2005, was the day I came to my forever home. Tomorrow is an important day too as it marks the four-year anniversary of the day I came out of hiding in the basement at my new forever home. But what can I say? I needed to get my thoughts sorted out.
Anyway, my whole reason for blogging and tweeting and fundraising is to help other animals find their forever homes so they can have four-year “Gotcha” Day anniversaries too.
You guys make that happen! Thanks for all of your support!
Here are some photos from my initial interview with the male staff member while still at the Persian Rescue. Although I am told I was a bit aloof, once the female staff member saw these photos it was a done deal.
When is your “Gotcha” day?

Happy Gotcha Day!!
That’s so great!
Khongrats on Part 1 of your special Gotcha Day!

PeeEssWoo: Mine is 8/26/06 – my mom’s 46th barkday – I was her gift to herself!
My cat Twinkle’s Gotcha Day was Feb 4th 2008. She had previous owners before me who surrendered her to the Greater Birmingham Humane Society stating that they didn’t have time for her.
Princes Sophie Bean’s gotcha day is October 14. She’s been with us 10 years now.
Sammy L. Catson’s gotcha day is July 30. He’s been with us 3 years.
Harry Houdini’s gotcha day is March 22. 2010 will be his first anniversary with us.
We celebrate with a special dinner and lots of love for every gotcha day, since we don’t know their actual birthdays.
Happy G-day, Romeo!
I don’t count my day as a Gotcha day – it was a “getting catnapped and driven two hours and never seeing my brothers and sisters again” day. So I’ve conveniently forgotten the date, except to recall it was sometime in October, 2002.
My “Gotcha” day is December 9! This year will mark the second anniversary my mommy saw me in Petfinders. I was only six months old at the time but the people at the Humane Society said my “unique” left eye meant I had to wait for someone who wanted a kitty JUST LIKE ME. Like there’s any other kitties like me. I used to have a doggie brother and a kitty brother and sister, but they’ve crossed over, so now I’m an only child, except for that obnoxious outdoor kitty Ernest. Mommy likes him coming inside to visit. I do too…as long as he remembers whose house he’s visiting.
I have a scared feeling that 2010 will see me with a new baby brother or sister. Sigh!
