From Sammy’s Staff: My middle cat Sammy wanted this wake up tactic submitted. (He and his big sister Sophie and pesky little brother Harry are all rescue kitties from shelters in Cleveland, OH and Pittsburgh, PA.
“The female staff is our feeder. I have learned that if you walk across the lower part of her and hit just the right spot, she’ll get up really fast. Sometimes she has to go to her box first if I do that but then she goes downstairs and feeds us. If we get her up early enough, she’ll go back to sleep on the couch after feeding us and then she forgets and feed us again before leaving the house. If walking on her lower half doesn’t work, I’ve found a gentle nibble on her foot works. Takes a little longer, but she’ll eventually get up.”
Sammy, I can’t believe you have figured out how to get TWO breakfasts! You are SO lucky. My staff used to be easily tricked but now they write notes to each other and leave them on the kitchen counter that say, “boys have been fed.” Grr.
As for stepping on the lower half of the body, I must try that one. There must be a button or something that you step on that means “Get up and feed me!” I will try this. Thanks for your great ideas!

Sammy is brilliant! We can’t wait to try that one on our mom.
Sammy is truly brilliant! Great wake up tactic!
Wow that is great! I have to say that is one thing that hasn’t happened at our house – no double breakfasts!
That’s pretty good! We’ve all got a lot to learn from each other about getting the food in the morning.
Dear Romeo and Pugsley,
I am a cat from England and I would like to submit my wake up tactics so you can publicise them on the interwebs. I think all cats should have as many tactics at their disposal to ensure breakfast is served promptly and efficiently. Please can you contact me by email so I can do this?
By the way, deal with your staff’s notes by taking them and hiding them. That never fails in this house!
